"Why am I doing this, you
ask? Well, apart from the hygienic and
aesthetic benefits of waxing, the experience
will be at the centre of a unique piece of
performance art which I hope will be both
funny and poignant.
However, I couldn't
justify this endeavour without it
contributing to society in some broader
sense, so I am using it as an opportunity to
raise funds for a charity I work for: Chess
in Schools and Communities. The charity does
sterling work promoting chess as an
educational and developmental tool for the
underprivileged around England and Wales.
The benefits of playing
chess have been repeatedly demonstrated in
many research papers, and chess has long
been known as an empowering force for all
echelons of society. Is it any wonder that
many fee paying schools have International
Masters on their payroll, teaching chess!"

CSC is currently supported by a small number
of donors. We are seeking further support so
that we can ensure that the concept, which
has been so well received in the
participating schools, can be rolled out and
that ultimately pupils at every primary
school in England and Wales have the
opportunity to benefit from chess lessons
and clubs at their school. Our donors have
pledged to match pound to pound every £1,000
plus donation to CSC up to a limit of
£250,000.
