ChessFest Liverpool 2024
On Sunday 21st July 2024, CSC hosted ChessFest in Chevasse Park. Following on from the record attendance at our London event in Trafalgar Square two weeks previously, ChessFest Liverpool attracted well over 1,000 visitors over the course of the day, ranging from complete beginners to Grandmasters. Each enjoyed a day of free, family friendly, fun chess activities delivered by CSC tutors and members of the Merseyside Chess Association.
Activities included:
free lessons from CSC tutors
coaching tips from expert chess players
a simultaneous display given by our special guest, Ukranian Grandmaster Iuri Shkuro
a chess-related art stall for younger attendees
casual chess on one of 100 sets
a demonstration of a new chess derivate called Topple the King
a blitz tournamment with over 90 contestants.
Our huge thanks to the many tutors and volunteers for their hard work in running this excellent event which raised the profile of chess and of CSC’s activities in the North West. ChessFest Liverpool will return in July 2025.
