Chess webinars, Season Two
In the Spring Term, we ran a series of chess webinars aimed at children between 7 and 13 years of age who know the basic rules of chess and are ready to take the next steps towards learning tactics and strategies. We’re delighted to be able to continue these webinars this term: they’ll take place on Monday evenings between 6pm and 7pm, starting on 28th April.
Led by CSC Chief Trainer Sean Marsh, the webinars will cover a range of topics, from sacrifices, checkmating patterns, and looking several moves ahead. There will also be some basic training on the Sicilian Defence and the Queen’s Gambit, two of the most popular chess openings. The webinars are completely free of charge and will be followed each week by a tournament on Lichess, giving participants the chance to test their newly-found knowledge against their peers.
