Whitefield Primary visits Anfield

Whitefield Primary from Merseyside visited the XTX Markets London Chess Classic and returned home with a coveted trophy, their pupils finishing top in our schools tournament. Their success at the Emirates didn't escape the attention of Liverpool Football Club who kindly invited the winning team along to Anfield to celebrate their achievements. The children had a great time looking around the stadium and meeting the club mascot, Mighty Red, then played a blindfold game against CSC CEO Malcolm Pein and learnt all about the Fried Liver Attack.
One of our teachers recently commented that in her school chess club is now more popular than football club. We are delighted to see our pupils interested in both mind and physical sports - mens sana in corpore sano
