Schools Invited to CSC’s Online Qualifier for The National Schools Chess Championships

On Monday, 25th November, from 4pm to 5pm, CSC will host an online qualifying event on Lichess for the English Chess Federation’s National Schools Chess Championships. Each school can enter up to 10 pupils to compete in a team battle, with the top six scores counting towards the school's total. Competitors must participate from school under staff supervision, and further event details are available on the ECF website.

This qualifying event is part of a series taking place throughout the autumn term, open to both secondary and primary school teams, regardless of experience level. Successful teams will advance to regional knockouts in spring 2025, with the strongest teams progressing through to the national finals in June. Schools unable to join a qualifying event can still participate through individual matches or online games.

The National Schools Chess Championships, founded in 1957, is England’s premier team competition, open to all schools. The tournament culminates in a national final at Nottingham University on 25th-26th June 2025, with the opportunity for top players to compete for the title in one of the most respected school chess tournaments in the country.

To sign-up, please use the form on the ECF website, selecting the CSC event at the second stage. Please also confirm your entry by emailing CSC here, when we will also be able support you by setting up Lichess accounts for your students ahead of the event.
