Line-up of the XTX Markets London Chess Classic nearly complete

The line-up of the 2024 XTX Markets London Chess Classic is nearly complete. Today Vidit Gujrathi, a member of the gold medal winning Indian team at the 2024 Chess Olympiad confirmed his participation. Vidit is one of the new generation of Indian Grandmasters that has taken the chess world by storm over the past few years, and recently took part in the 2024 Candidates Tournament in Toronto. He joins:

  • Women’s World Champion Ju Wenjun

  • England’s number-two Nikita Vitiugov

  • British Champion Gawain Jones

  • England’s youngest-ever Grandmaster Shreyas Royal

  • 8-time British Champion Michael Adams

  • Former World Rapid Champion Shakhriyar Mamedyarov

with the final spot still to be announced.

We’ve already had a great response from schools that will be joining us for a day of activities at the Emirates, including those from Manchester, Liverpool, Leeds, and London. With four weeks to go, there’s still a lot of planning ahead, but the event is beginning to take shape.
