GLF Schools Chess Tournament

CSC was delighted to be invited to run a tournament for GLF Schools, a multi-academy trust with 43 schools across the South East of England. The tournament was held at Meridian High School in New Addington, and featured 17 schools, 6 secondaries and 11 primaries, competing in separate sections in the same hall. The standard of chess was excellent: we were really impressed with some of the primary school children’s opening knowledge, while some of the older students played some very entertaining attacking games. Most importantly, the games were played in a fantastic spirit - competitive but also supportive - and led to friendships being made across the trust’s schools.

At the end of six tough rounds of chess, Mrs Anderson, Headteacher of Meridian High School, presented medals to the highest individual scorers and trophies to the winning schools: Danetree Primary School and Glyn School. Congratulations to everyone who took part and made it such an enjoyable event.
